In Memory

Pastor Len Dale

On behalf of WEM’s Board of Directors and Deputy Directors, I’d like to acknowledge the wonderful service and devotion of the late Leonard Dale, one of our board member who passed away on January 22, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Anne Catherine Dale; his daughter Emily (Dale) Durr and son-in-law Joshua, son Aaron and daughter-in-law Kate; and son Ryan and daughter in-law Tara. Len leaves behind a legacy of joy and love for his family. He is also survived by his beloved granddaughters, Aurora, Nora, Zola, Audrey, Ella, and Luna; and sisters Sharon (and Larry) Morgan, Lona (Jim) McCann, and Yvonne Fernandez.

Len held a place for many years on WEM’s Board of Directors and volunteered his time and resources to preach multiple times in Wittenberg during the worship season, typically from May 1 through October 31.

Len served in a wide variety of contexts and types of ministry. He has served as a pastoral assistant in youth and campus ministry, mission developer of a new congregation, Chaplain in a state C.D/M.I treatment center, Interim Director of the Lutheran Center in Olongo Po City Philippines, pastor in large and small churches, Mission Director – ELCA, Bishop’s associate and Director of Evangelical Missions.

Pr. Dale recently retired as Director of Evangelical Missions and Bishop Gustafson’s associate. Len worked with new congregational development, transformational ministry, and stewardship. He was staff liaison to the Church and Society Team and oversaw the work of the stewardship and mission tables as well as the grant process for new and renewing congregations through the ELCA. He will be greatly missed in our earthly presence, yet we have hope we’ll rejoice with him again in Heaven.
